Sylvia performs in the Philadelphia area, across the United States, and in select international locations.
She has appeared as soloist on repeated occasions with the Delaware, Newark, Kennett, Dover, and Lancaster Symphonies, as well as the Bucharest Sinfonia. In the fall of 1995, Ms. Ahramjian performed the Brahms Double Concerto with the Ploiesti Philharmonic in Romania, and has returned many times to appear with the orchestras of Bacau, Ploiesti, and Rimnicu-Vilcea. In 2008, Sylvia performed “Romanza” by acclaimed Philadelphia Composer Andrea Clearfield, with the orchestra in Ploisti Romania. Other international performances have included a tour of Sicily with the Magie Barocche International Festival in Italy.
Sylvia gave a guest artist performance with Colloquy, a contemporary chamber ensemble, at St. Martin within Ludgate Church in London. For several seasons she performed recitals and gave daily master classes at an international festival in Brasov, Romania. Together with her husband, cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, she has presented duo recitals in Rome and Venice, Italy, followed by performances with Trio Casals at the famed Moscow Conservatory in Russia, where they performed an all American program to open an International Festival.
In the spring of 2012, Trio Casals,of which she is a founding member, performed a trio by the contemporary composer Michael Kurek with the Nashville, Tennessee Ballet Company. The Trio has also been soloist with the Helena Montana Symphony, and the South Eastern Pennsylvania Orchestra. They did a residency at Southeaster Louisiana University in 2009 that also included performances at Tulane University. She performed violin and viola regularly for many years with the Adirondack Ensemble in upstate New York, and appears annually with Trio Casals on the Hudson Valley Chamber Music Series.
In 2014, a new group, Trio International, performed at Carnagie Hall and on a tour in Wyoming. Recent performances include solo recitals at Ithaca College and James Madison University showcasing a variety of musical genres, and a solo performance with the festival orchestra in Limeira, Brazil.
She also has a chamber group Trio Cappriccio (violin/viola, clarinet and piano). Recent seasons have included her performances of many diverse works such as, Hindemith Trio for viola, saxophone and piano, Ewazen Trio for trumpet, violin and piano.
On baroque violin, Sylvia performs regularly with The Immanuel Bach Consort in New Castle, Delaware. She also performed the Bach concerto for violin, flute, and harpsichord with the West Chester Baroque Ensemble.
As part of her studies of baroque violin, Sylvia has performed a wide range of chamber music at the Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin College and the Early Music Vancouver International Festival in Vancouver, British Columbia.
She has a large repetiore of orchestral music as the Concertmaster of the Lancaster Symphony for over 20 years and Associate Concertmaster of the Delaware Symphony for 15 years. She also has performed with the Delaware Opera Company, the Philadelphia Opera Company, and the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra.
As highlighted above, Sylvia has performed multiple solo pieces and chamber works on the viola, including a both contemporary chamber music and varied solo recordings.
